Our Story 1925-2013
Brown & Brown PC was founded by
John Fremont Brown, who became a NH
Municipal Court Judge at the age of 23.
John married Louise Kirkegaard of Bedford,
who later became the town historian. John
established his Bedford office in 1925 and
his son Nathaniel followed in his footsteps
in 1960, moving the firm across the street
to the historic Domine Manse. The office is
still located in the Manse, which was built by
Nicholas Bowes, the first minister and leader
of Bedford in 1730. It was home to John Reed,
statesman and patriot.
Today, Brown & Brown is a team of five
attorneys—Nat Brown, Mark Raffa, Jim
Donovan, Pam Brown, and Eric Prichard. Our
team continues the tradition of caring and
leadership. We help clients in areas of estate
planning, probate, elder law, real estate,
zoning & permitting, business formation,
bankruptcy, leases, landlord/tenant issues,
and litigation. Each client is an individual
story deserving of our personal attention.
The experienced professionals at Brown &
Brown can help with the modern needs of our
community, as did the patriots of the 1700s.

Callahan’s Karate Studio opened for classes in
1994. The studio is owned and operated by Richard
and Winnie Callahan.
Mr. Callahan is a Sixth Degree Black Belt
in American Kenpo Karate with over 20 years
experience as a karate instructor. Mrs. Callahan
is a Fourth Degree Black Belt with extensive
tournament experience in both forms and fighting
during the 90s. Both Mr. and Mrs. Callahan have
experience as Tactical Master instructors in CDT
non-deadly force training.
Our studio has received numerous awards including:
• Black Belt Schools of America Martial Arts
School of the Year Award 2000
• United Professionals Top Ten School Award 2005
• EFC Black Belt Schools Top Ten School Award 2011
• EFC Black Belt Schools Heavy Hitter Student
Service Award 2012
Our school currently trains 500 students and has
one of the lowest attrition rates in the industry.
Many families choose our studio due to its family
friendly atmosphere. Our motto has always been
“Families that Kick together, Stick together”.
